Anything you wanted to know about Jirarudan. Or did you want to know anything...?
Name: Jirarudan (original), Lawrence III (dub...well, actually, it has been assumed that was his dub name, from seeing it everywhere. They never said it in the movie...o_O And I don't think I've seen anything official that called him that...hmm.)
Age: 21
Height:about 6' 6" (wow.....he's tall)
Home: unknown....maybe he lived in his airship...
General info/movie stuff
Jirarudan (original name, I like it better), or Lawrence the Third (English dub name), is the villain in the second Pokémon movie. Well, I don't think he's exactly trying to be evil, but he's certainly the one causing problems.
He is a collector, and obsessed with it. He doesn't really seem 100% sane... Anyway, he collects all sorts of things, rare artifacts and such, and he also collects rare Pokémon. He doesn't train them, battle with them. He just collects them. Goodness knows what he does with the collected Pokémon. o_O
Jirarudan is determined to capture the rarest Pokémon in the world, Lugia, for his collection. According to legend, if somebody captures the three legendary birds, Freezer/Articuno, Fire/Moltres, and Lightning/Zapdos, it will cause major problems, and Lugia will show up. Appparently the guy doesn't care that it's gonna destroy the world, he just wants Lugia, so, he tries to capture the birds.
He has this huge airship, named the Hikoukyu, which he uses to capture the birds. I guess maybe Jirarudan built it? *shrugs* Anyway, he flies around in the airship over the islands where the three birds are supposed to live, and attacks Moltres' island, covering it in ice, which brings Moltres out. Then he sends out these weird thingamajigs (hula hoops of doom! LOL), which form a cage around Moltres and bring him back to the airship.
The next bird he captures is Zapdos. While Zapdos is talking to Pikachu, Jirarudan flies his ship overhead, and begins to draw Zapdos' electricity away. Zapdos tries to attack Jirarudan's ship, but is captured in more of those weird hula-hoops. A few more of the hoops capture the brats (yeah, I'm a TR fan, I call Ash and co. brats, twerps, etc.), Team Rocket, and their boat, and bring them to Jirarudan's ship along with Zapdos.
When Jirarudan finds out he captured something besides the bird, he goes down to the bottom floor of the airship in that weird hydraulic chair, and finds the brats and Team Rocket. Now, this is where he really screws up, it's the equivalent of Giovanni telling Mewtwo he's just using him. Jirarudan explains what he's doing, then takes the hydraulic chair back up to the top of the airship where he was, leaving twerps and Rockets alone with the two birds. Mistake.
The brats manage to break out Moltres, and then Moltres frees Zapdos. The two birds make a nice sized hole in the side of Jirarudan's ship, and exit.
Together with Articuno, they attack the airship. By now it's in pretty bad shape, and it ends up crashing on Zapdos' island. Poor Jirarudan... All his neat junk he's collected falls out of the ship. *sniffles*
The three birds are going to attack Ash, when the funnel of water shows up, and Lugia comes out of it. Then various things happen, I'm gonna skip over it, I'm just telling about Jirarudan, remember. If you want a full summary of the movie, try going here.
As Ash and Lugia are getting near the main island, Jirarudan sends out more of those hoops after Lugia (persistent, isn't he?). Lugia destroys some of them, but is eventually caught. Lugia uses Hyper Beam (I think it's hyper beam, somethin' like it anyway), which gets him out of the hoops, and wrecks what's left of Jirarudan's airship. I'm amazed the hyper beam didn't destroy the guy right along with his ship. Lugia falls through the ice into the water along with Ash.
A while after Ash has been rescued, the orbs have been put in the shrine, the ocarina music played, Lugia revived, and the world saved, etc., it shows Jirarudan standing by the remains of his airship. He sees something on the ground, and he picks it up. It is the first thing he ever collected, an ancient mew card. He looks at it, and in the dub, he says something about it being where he started, and where he will begin again.
Yah, I mixed up some of the Japanese and American names, and switched back and forth....if it annoys you, well, don't read it next time....heh.
Voice actors
Jirarudan's voice actor is Takeshi Kaga. I'm unsure about who did Lawrence III's voice, if I find out, I'll put it here. I've been told by a few people that Juan Chioran did his voice...but I haven't found his name on any lists of voice actors in the dub, so I don't really know. I'll try'n have more info here at some point...
Revelation Lugia soundtrack
There are two tracks on the Revelation Lugia soundtrack that have to do with Jirarudan. There is Jirarudan's theme, and Ware wa Collector(which Jirarudan sings! ^_^). I downloaded mp3s of these at Bulbagarden.com, but it doesn't seem to be there anymore. o_O You can download a short (and bad quality... *sighs*) clip of Ware wa Collector in the downloads section at this site.

Translation
I'm not someone's king
I'm not someone's soldier
Like piecing the shards of a broken mirror back together
I'll collect things scattered all over this planet!
I am a collector!
I am a collector! Collector!
I won't give away tomorrow
I won't bury yesterday
Like a music note sitting atop the score
I'll repair any mistakes in the timing!
I am a collector!
I am a collector! Collector!
This looks good...like a holy light
This sounds good...like listening into heaven
I can't be tied down by anything
From the sky I can see everything
I embrace the dreams
Trapped inside this prism...
This is my collection!
Jewelry (LOL!)
Lessee.....well, he wears two rings on his left hand. The one with a red stone belonged to his mother...I guess she's dead. ;_; Wonder how she died. o_O The other ring I suppose is just part of his collection of neat junk. He also wears a silver earring in his left ear, and that funny gold thing on his collar. I'm not sure about what the symbol on that gold thing is...*shrugs*
Cards
There's a promo jumbo TCG card with Jirarudan on it! It's a Coro Coro promo, I think. It's a trainer card, and shows Jirarudan and the three legendary birdies. (I need that card!) Picture of the jumbo TCG card. There is also a promo TCG card that is made to look like Jirarudan's Ancient Mew card. It's a double sided foil, and all the text is in weird symbols except for the copyright stuff at the bottom. There were two Japanese versions (1 version had an error, they spelled Nintendo wrong on the copyright. LOL), and one American one. I have the American one. ^_^ *stares at Mew card* Ooooh...sparkly... Picture of the Ancient Mew card. There are probably also several non-TCG cards that have pictures of him from the movie.
Thanks to Phoenix, Ware wa Korekuta, and this site for some of the info on this page.
